So far all went well. I've installed mythtv and my PVR-500 (mythtv-setup even detects it). I have a little issue regarding mythtv-setup and a core dump problem regarding mythbackend. 1) mythtv-setup 2007-12-12 22:14:19.856 Using runtime prefix = /usr/local xscreensaver-command: not found 2007-12-12 22:14:19.867 DPMS is not supported. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.883 New DB connection, total: 1 2007-12-12 22:14:19.887 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:14:19.889 Total desktop dim: 1274x867, with 1 screen[s]. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.894 Using screen 0, 1274x867 at 0,0 2007-12-12 22:14:19.906 Current Schema Version: 1160 2007-12-12 22:14:19.923 Total desktop dim: 1274x867, with 1 screen[s]. 2007-12-12 22:14:19.928 Using screen 0, 1274x867 at 0,0 2007-12-12 22:14:19.930 Switching to square mode (G.A.N.T.) 2007-12-12 22:14:19.943 Using the Qt painter mythtv: could not connect to socket mythtv: No such file or directory lirc_init failed for mythtv, see preceding messages 2007-12-12 22:14:22.043 Loading from: /usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/G.A.N.T./base.xml 2007-12-12 22:14:22.072 Loading from: /usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/default/base.xml ps: Process environment requires procfs(5) The first tells me the runtime prefix is /usr/local. Is this correct? Mythtv is installed in /usr/local/share/mythtv/ The last line complains about procfs. I'm running FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE with linux_base-fc-4_10 and linux-procps-3.2.5 installed. I'm woundering which process is called and why it complains about procfs? So far mythtv-setup runs fine and reports no errors. So the above realy is no big issue... 2) In mythbackend: 2007-12-12 22:23:20.004 Using runtime prefix = /usr/local 2007-12-12 22:23:20.020 New DB connection, total: 1 2007-12-12 22:23:20.024 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:23:20.027 Current Schema Version: 1160 Starting up as the master server. 2007-12-12 22:23:20.033 New DB connection, total: 2 2007-12-12 22:23:20.034 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:23:20.036 EITHelper: localtime offset 1:00:00 2007-12-12 22:23:20.041 New DB connection, total: 3 2007-12-12 22:23:20.042 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:23:20.351 EITHelper: localtime offset 1:00:00 2007-12-12 22:23:20.652 New DB scheduler connection 2007-12-12 22:23:20.653 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost 2007-12-12 22:23:20.657 Main::Starting HttpServer 2007-12-12 22:23:20.661 Main::Registering HttpStatus Extension 2007-12-12 22:23:20.666 mythbackend version: 0.20.20060828-3 www.mythtv.org 2007-12-12 22:23:20.666 Enabled verbose msgs: important general 2007-12-12 22:23:20.666 AutoExpire: Found 2 recorders w/max rate of 144 MiB/min 2007-12-12 22:23:20.667 AutoExpire: Required Free Space: 2.1 GB w/freq: 10 min mythbackend in free(): error: junk pointer, too high to make sense Abort trap: 6 (core dumped) This error is more serious and I have no idea why this happens. Since I want to run the backend on FreeBSD I could realy use any help I can get. I'm using mythtv-fixes-0.20-13053.tar.bz2 from the multimedia/mythtv port which effectively compiles to mythtv-0.20_2.
