Application: I am trying to use a Netgear GA620 Gigabit Ethernet card for a network sniffer w/FreeBSD 4.3 (plenty of ram and CPU. fxp0 for management interface). I currently have the fiber plugged into a Cisco 6509 fiber int and am spanning a vlan into the port (max ~5MBs). Questions: I am loosing VERY close to 50% of packets at the kernel even at only 1MBs. (The GA620 is in a 32bit slot as the 64bit slot in the server does not accommodate the card...) Regardless of the amt of traffic (1MBs..30MBs) I send to the interface, it looses VERY close to 50% of packets (I dont see this as a coincidence but do not know the answer) Has anyone experienced the same results with this card? Also, for some reason I am only able to see IPX traffic. No TCP or UDP... Any ideas?
