Well, when somebody other than root presses the space bar to advance the screen when scrolling, such as when reading a man page, the new text only overrwrites the old text - if the new text has a blank line, the old text remains. Clear still works to clear the screen, BTW. It's possible that this is because I have vidcontrol switching the screen to a different font... but the weird part is that it doesn't happen for root, which makes me think it might be a permission problem in the /dev directory. > Also, please show the output from `dmesg' after starting the system > with the GENERIC kernel.
