Hi John, Emacs is starting to slow down, again. I have several proc's, PID PPID CPU PRI NI VSZ RSS WCHAN STAT TT TIME COMMAND 215 211 0 3 0 1264 184 ttyin Is+ p3 0:00.58 -csh (tcsh) 229 215 0 2 0 6740 3448 select S p3 5:57.74 emacs -fn 8x13 -name Emacs -T Emacs 230 229 30 2 0 780 12 select Is ?? 0:00.04 /usr/local/libexec/emacs/19.34/i386--freebsd/emacsserver 1729 229 0 -6 0 1560 20 piperd Is ?? 0:00.33 /usr/local/bin/ispell -a -m -B It looks like there is an ispell waiting for something. Killing that did not effect the map for 229. The Emacs Mail response is about the same. The maps are: cat /proc/229/map 0x1000 0xb7000 121 0 r-x COW vnode 0xb7000 0xb8000 1 0 rwx COW vnode 0xb8000 0x10d000 33 0 r-x vnode 0x10d000 0x1e7000 141 0 rwx COW vnode 0x1e7000 0x26d000 100 0 rwx COW swap 0x26d000 0x28f000 27 0 rwx COW default 0x28f000 0x29d000 10 0 rwx COW default 0x29d000 0x39b000 206 0 rwx COW swap 0x39b000 0x3e2000 51 0 rwx COW swap 0x3e2000 0x405000 17 0 rwx COW default 0x405000 0x431000 0 0 rwx COW default 0x431000 0x454000 0 0 rwx COW default 0x454000 0x46d000 8 0 rwx COW default 0x200b7000 0x200c8000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x200c8000 0x200ca000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x200cc000 0x200fa000 3 0 r-x COW vnode 0x200fa000 0x200ff000 1 0 rwx COW vnode 0x200ff000 0x2010d000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x2010d000 0x2010e000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x2010e000 0x20146000 22 0 r-x COW vnode 0x20146000 0x2014a000 4 0 rwx COW vnode 0x2014a000 0x201d5000 34 0 r-x COW vnode 0x201d5000 0x201da000 5 0 rwx COW vnode 0x201da000 0x201e1000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x201e1000 0x201e2000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x201e2000 0x201f2000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x201f2000 0x201f3000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x201f3000 0x201fb000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x201fb000 0x201fc000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x201fc000 0x20202000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x20202000 0x20203000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20203000 0x20206000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x20206000 0x20207000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20207000 0x2021f000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x2021f000 0x20221000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20221000 0x20222000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20222000 0x20290000 36 0 r-x COW vnode 0x20290000 0x20294000 3 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20294000 0x202a0000 0 0 rwx COW swap 0x202a0000 0x202a2000 0 0 rwx COW default 0xefbbe000 0xefbde000 7 0 rwx COW swap 0xefbde000 0xefbfc000 2 0 rwx COW swap 0xefbfc000 0xefbfe000 2 0 rwx COW default cat /proc/230/map 0x1000 0x3000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x3000 0x4000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x4000 0x9000 0 0 rwx swap 0x20003000 0x20014000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x20014000 0x20016000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20016000 0x20017000 0 0 rwx swap 0x20018000 0x2001e000 0 0 r-x COW vnode 0x2001e000 0x2001f000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x2001f000 0x2008d000 2 0 r-x COW vnode 0x2008d000 0x20091000 0 0 rwx COW vnode 0x20091000 0x2009f000 0 0 rwx swap 0xefbde000 0xefbfe000 0 0 rwx swap thanks, tomdean To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
