The graphical interface is actually controlled by the X Windowing System (a.k.a. X11) and not FreeBSD. FreeBSD only controls the text console. Check for help on www.xfree86.org about your card. You can configure it in /stand/sysinstall by going to "Configure" and then using one of the X Window configuration programs (like xf86config). If all else fails, use the basic "SVGA" configuration.
