I setup virtual email hosting using FreeBSD 2.2.7 successfully.
Here are the references that I used:

1) http://www.wendmail.org/
Toward the bottom of the page is a link for
     "Virtual Hosting" - a how-to document

2) Read the referenced sections (referenced in the "how-to" above)
in the book "Sendmail"
by Costales and Allman
published by O'Reilly
