Huh? First of all, it's /kernel
^ not sure if that's a typo or what.
Second, why are you or your setup trying to mount usr on /mnt? This
sounds like something you are doing from a floppy (yes/no).

If you have a working boot floppy and fixit floppy, run those up,
check you disklabel ( is the entire FreeBSD partition on your second
ide drive, wd1, or split between wd0 and wd1? If you have a valid
label somewhere, mount and check it.
btw, pay attention to error messages, they are usually valid. You may
have a disk slice crammed full. What was going on when you got the
above error messages? Go slow and be precise :)
