I am looking for some software to help me with the following: I have a small network of a handful of PC's in my apartment. I have three Win95 boxes and two FreeBSD boxes. I would like for all of these machine to be able to browse the internet, do ftp, pop/imap mail, etc. Also I would like to be able to ftp or telnet into the FreeBSD boxes from a remote site. Right now I am using a test version of Wingate; it does all I need it to do, however the cost for it is outrageous, and OSR2 does not meet the stability of FreeBSD. I want to be able to have the same setup as I do know (internal browsing, FTP and telnet to the outside, and the same from the oustide in) off of my ISDN. Which program(s) am I looking for? I've heard some about natd, squid, and ipfw (along with pppd of course), but I'm unclear whether any/all of these will accomplish the same thing as I have now. Any help is greatly appreciated. ========================================================================== Jeffrey Lynn Jeffries, jeffries@unt.edu http://www.cs.unt.edu/~jeffries Proud user of FreeBSD: Ask me how to unleash the daemon inside your PC To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
