Hi,
I am running FreeBSD 2.05 on my Pentium 133 system. The GENERIC kernel
can only use about 13 mb of my 128mb RAM. I followed the FAQ advise to
add a kernel option
options "MAXMEM=131072"
and recompiled a new kernel. After I reboot the system, I saw the message:
real memory : 133824572 (32672 pages)
bad memory : 1048576 (256 pages)
available memory: 13598720 (3320 pages)
which means I can only use 13.5 mb of my 128mb RAM. It is very strange.
When I use the GENERIC kernel to boot the system, I have the following
message:
real memory : 15173659 (3467 pages)
available memory: 13774848 (3363 pages)
There is no bad memories and the available memory seems even more than
the new kernel.
Did I do anything wrong? Should the options for specifying MAXMEM works?
