Hi all, I'm trying to install 3.1-RELEASE over an FTP connection on my small (ethernet) LAN, and the sysinstall program hangs part way through installing the 'bin' distribution. I have repeated this many times, and the hang occurs at different places through the 'bin' distribution every time. The thing doesn't lock solid. I can hit CTRL-C to abort and try again, but it fails again and again. When I do hit CTRL-C, I get an error something like "write fail: wrote -1 bytes of 1024". The HD is NOT full by the way! I've checked! This is the setup: I have the 3.1-RELEASE dist on a CD-R which I downloaded and burnt myself. I can't install directly from the CD because the problem machine doesn't have a CDROM. I did test the CD on another machine with a CDROM an it installed just fine - no problem with the CD. I have also tried a few different FTP servers on my LAN. I have tried war-ftpd and alex-ftp on a Win98 machine, and also the standard ftpd on another 2.2.7-RELEASE machine on the LAN. sysinstall fails the same way each time. In the past, I've installed 2.2.7-RELEASE the same way on this machine without any incident. Anyone know what's up?
