Version 4.0 (WC CD-ROM Distribution) installation crashes after the "final warning." See http://people.FreeBSD.org/~rpratt/40/warning.html. Proceeds to the next screen, attempting to create root, and freezes. By switching to the ALT-F2 console, I can see the following text: DEBUG: Scanning disk ad0 for root filesystem DEBUG: Scanning desk ad0 for swap partitions DEBUG: Scanning disk ad0 for root filesystem DEBUG: Scanning desk ad0 for swap partitions /dev/rad0s1a: 102400 sectors in 25 cylinders of 1 tracks, 4096 sectors 50.0MB in 2 cyl groups ad0: WRITE command timeout - resetting ata0 resetting devices..done ad0: WRITE command timeout - resetting ata0 resetting devices..done ad0: WRITE command timeout - resetting ata0 resetting devices..done I believe it is a HDD controller problem. I have tried both the ATAPI/IDE controllers on 14, 15, and both. Have a primary master IDE 12G WesternDig HD and a secondary master ATAPI CDROM. Ideas? Thanks, Chris Dempsey __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
