It is not that easy.  Yes, they do force people to buy their products.
Simple example: Try to buy a brand PC to install FreeBSD on it without
paying for a Microsoft licence at the same time. Nearly impossible
since all
major hardware companies have been blackmailed by MS for years. They
had
to sign contracts which obliged them to buy a Windows licence for every
PC they sell wether the customer wants it are not. They were threatened
that
otherwise they would be charged so much for Windows licenses that the
company
would soon be out of business.

They use unfair business practices in other areas as well and do
supress competition and creativity, Doug is right. They have been
charged for this and the court decided against them. So it is at least
official now.

I would not go so far and say the Microsoft is evil, but a monopoly is
very dangerous, because you no longer have the choice, because they can
set the standards. Their proprietary standards of course. You have to
take what they produce, good or bad. Innovation is no longer required.
