I start it in /etc/rc.local. But it should start OK from rc.network.
Can't say why it doesn't work for you. You could trying putting
``set -x'' into rc.network and rc.isdn and look at the output.

That directory is normally reserved for ports use.

oh, that's very interesting. But we can't answer your question without
a lot more information. However, I suspect that the facility is only
meant to be used in conjunction with isdnmonitor, not telnet. You've
probably tickled a bug in either isdnd or the kernel by using the wrong
tool/protocol. Don't do that :-)

I'm not about to crash my machine to track it down.
