if you take a look at the su2 man page... it does a lot more environment
handling and prompt handling than standard su... i.e. removes all paths
w/o leading slash... makes sure the prompt has a # (i.e. don't depend on
shell to do it)... among other things...   just my $.02...   ttyl..
