Typically there is a printed circuit board inside, with power, USB-B, etc., connectors poking through the case and pigtails connected to the internal components (HDD, etc._. Opening the case can be a PITA -- snap-together clamshells, screws hidden under glued-on skins, etc.. Getting the HDD out without injuring yourself or damaging the HDD is the goal. Once the HDD is out, it should be a standard HDD just like any other; connect it to your systems as you please. David
