Since you have to run mergemaster on one machine anyway: mount /usr/src read-only on one system and run "make delete-old delete-old-libs" on it. Yes, it's one step more, but you will prevent to shoot in your foot by accident. While I trust you (and anyone with an @FreeBSD.org address) to either not shoot in your foot or to be able to cope with it, I don't expect that every other user is able to handle it.
