232 as in the parallel port?  What kind of PDA?

The ports collection has an entire category called "palm" for the
PalmPilot and similar devices.  Take a gander at
http://www.freebsd.org/ports.  I don't have a PDA myself, but people seem
to like jpilot as a FreeBSD (or Linux, etc) replacement for 3com's windows
software.  It may just meet your needs.
