If you (fellow committers and/or users) see something that should be in the release notes, but isn't, feel free to let me know. Committers, please make commits to RELNOTES.TXT as you see fit (some of you do already, which is great). I'd like to get more of you guys and gals making your own release note commits, because I think many of you understand the significance and impact of your work better than I do. 2. For those of you who do *not* read -doc, here's a small plug for RELNOTESng, the next-generation Release Notes. I plan to replace the *.TXT files in our distribution with DocBook files (the same as what we use for the Handbook and FAQ). Most importantly, we'll be able to create (from a single set of source files) different versions of these documents for the various architectures we support. We'll also have exactly one place for the supported hardware list, which now resides in four different files at last count. By going to DocBook, we'll have the ability to produce TXT, HTML, PDF, and PS versions of these documents. Finally, we'll be able to do translated release notes if there's sufficient interest. A prototype-in-progress, which I've been keeping in sync with -CURRENT's release notes, is at: http://people.freebsd.org/~bmah/relnotes/ Feedback is welcomed...followups should probably go to -doc.
