hi all, i just installed freebsd 5 on my laptop. the minimal install + ftp + emacs looks alot like...*nix. gee, imagine that. unfortunately, they chose the c shell and bourne shells as default :( anyways, the installer was a bit annoying because it looked like it was stuck in a loop...i looped a coupla times because i was reading something else. but, freebsd's subtle hint of going back to the same screen helped...so i did the postconfig stuff. i don't mind text based / curses configs...in fact, i prefer them. i hate clicking, especially in freeciv. ah, the joys of unix! i really like how the default font is something like 24 pt...very easy to read. however, there are problems. first, i chose to install bash from the additional software section. emacs installed, but bash did not. weird! also, PPP over ethernet wasn't an option...also weird because DSL is common. usb support also failed. has anyone seen any supporting documentation for PPPoe? the bsd handbook didn't have anything on it. thanks, tom
