I have a Verizon Broadband USB720 modem for my Mac. I have not used that model, but used a KPC650 (550?) PC Card under NetBSD. It had an ohci, uhub, and something that was a serial adaptor with two bulk endpoints. It's possible this adaptor is just the ugensa/ucom part. So I'd try to add the usb device id to the list in the "generic serial driver". My impression is that the "ugensa" support in NetBSD is very similar to a driver with a slighly different name in FreeBSD (I don't remember which way the code flowed).
