Considering that the 41upgrade.tgz writes a more recent date to port.mkversion, this last step shouldn't really be necessary, should it? As for the problem of getting the installation up to -STABLE, the make command will actually complain and say: ``Your system is too old to use this bsd.port.mk. You need a fresh make world or an upgrade kit. Please go to http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports/ or a mirror site and follow the instructions.'' This message actually tells you what to do. The only gripe I have about it is that it might be better to mention the upgrade kit option _before_ make world. Running the upgrade kit is after all considerably easier and less time consuming than a make world, and to make this even cleared one might consider to put ``or a fresh make world'' in parantheses. (And of course, someone should point out on the referenced web page that the 4.1 upgrade kit also works for 4.2-RELEASE). eSk To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
