First, delete the FreeBSD partitions to start clean. Then in the fdisk editor make two FreeBSD slices: one in the 50mb space you just made, another taking up the remaining 400mb on the disk. In the disklabel editor, put the 'a' partition (/) on the 50mb partition, and /var and /usr and swap on the 400mb. (Hint: watch the device names for which slice to use. wd0s1, wd0s2....the last digit is the slice.)
