FreeBSD ural85-gw0-alpha 8.3-STABLE FreeBSD 8.3-STABLE #0: Fri Jul  6 01:59:46 YEKT 2012     emz@ural85-gw0-alpha:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/CRYSTAL  amd64
>Description:
IBM x3250m2, running FreeBSD from 8.2-STABLE to 8.3-STABLE periodically hangs. When observing it's console, last message/messages are usually 'bge0 watchdog timeout - resetting'. These messages appear randomly, I cannot reproduce them on purpose. When these messages arrear the system may hang completely (8.3-STABLE), or partially - I can type on console but cannot login, system partrially procecces the traffic (8.2-STABLE, september 2011). Last time on 8.3-STABLE systme hanged completely, even Ctrl-Alt-Escaping to the kernel debugger did nothing. But in /var/log/messages it logged 'bge0: link state changed to DOWN'.

the bge0 is:

bge0@pci0:2:0:0:        class=0x020000 card=0x03781014 chip=0x165a14e4 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00
    vendor     = 'Broadcom Corporation'
    device     = 'Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit (94309)'
    class      = network
    subclass   = ethernet

It's running one of rthe recent 2011 firmware, I updated it using IBM utilities in order to solve the problem; it didn't help though.
