I tested the sympthom again this weekend, since we had holidays here in Japan. I got a new LVD disk, and did everything from the first step, that is, partitioning the disk. Then, I found that soft reboot of 4.4R kernel.GENERIC works. In the `dmesg', however, I noticed that there is one line, like (1) da0: invalid primary partition table: no magic This line appears soon after (2) sym0: Downloading SCSI SCRIPTS ----- Now, My guess is: when I did upgrade from 4.3R to 4.4R, the soft reboot stopped immediately after (2), because the diskgeometry was not recognized somehow. It is still funny wrt (1), though it seems harmless. Yoriaki Fujimori To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-alpha" in the body of the message
