I do not believe you can/want to disable ARP. ARP is an extremely important protocol in TCP/IP. Without it, you would not be able to communicate with any host. The cache will be deleted after some time, or you can delete the cache by typing "arp -d -a" as root. Hope this helps, Corey Eric De La Cruz Lugo > > This is a multi-part message in MIME format. > > ------=_NextPart_000_018B_01C0CCAB.84FCAE40 > Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="iso-8859-1" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > A friend of mine its trying to solve a problem here it is, is in spanish = > I will try to translate on the fly: > > > Eric este es el mensaje del kernel > es un server con dos NIC?s fxp0 y dc0 > su proposito Servidor web > > >Eric this is the kernel message from the server > >with the two NICs, fxp0 and dc0 > >this computer will be a webserver. > > >ip?s 207.248.139.110 > >ip?s 207.248.139.109 > > pero esto ya me ha pasado antes con otras cajas, > en realidad es un mensaje que avisa que los paquetes estan en las dos=20 > tarjetas, esto es logico porque estan conectadas al mismo segmento de la = > > red local > pero deveria de haber una manera de desacticvar el protocolo ARP lo que=20 > pasa es que el log crece a sobre manera :( > Saludos > > >I have faced this problem before in other boxes > >this is a warnning message because the packets are in the two NICs, = > because both > >NICs are in the same segment in the LAN, but it should (must) be a way = > to deactivate the ARP protocol > >my problem its that the log grows to fast :( > >Greetings. > > Apr 24 10:01:50 www /kernel: arp: 207.248.139.18 is on fxp0 but got = > reply=20 > from 00:c0:4f:c9:d5:55 on dc0 > Apr 24 10:02:15 www /kernel: arp: 207.248.139.18 is on fxp0 but got = > reply=20 > from 00:c0:4f:c9:d5:55 on dc0 > Apr 24 10:02:19 www /kernel: arp: 207.248.139.17 is on fxp0 but got = > reply=20 > from 00:60:5c:f3:c5:44 on dc0 > > ------=_NextPart_000_018B_01C0CCAB.84FCAE40 > Content-Type: text/html; > charset="iso-8859-1" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> > <HTML><HEAD> > <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = > http-equiv=3DContent-Type> > <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> > <STYLE></STYLE> > </HEAD> > <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>A friend of mine its trying to solve a = > problem here=20 > it is, is in spanish I will try to translate on the fly:</FONT></DIV> > <DIV> </DIV> > <DIV> </DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Eric este es el mensaje del = > kernel<BR>es un server=20 > con dos NIC?s fxp0 y dc0<BR>su proposito Servidor web</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>Eric this is the kernel message = > from the=20 > server</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>with the two NICs, fxp0 and = > dc0</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>this computer will be a = > webserver.</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><BR>>ip?s = > 207.248.139.110<BR>>ip?s=20 > 207.248.139.109</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><BR></FONT><FONT face=3DArial = > size=3D2>pero esto ya me=20 > ha pasado antes con otras cajas,<BR>en realidad es un mensaje que avisa = > que los=20 > paquetes estan en las dos <BR>tarjetas, esto es logico porque estan = > conectadas=20 > al mismo segmento de la <BR>red local<BR>pero deveria de haber una = > manera de=20 > desacticvar el protocolo ARP lo que <BR>pasa es que el log crece a sobre = > manera=20 > :(<BR>Saludos</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>I have faced this problem before in = > other=20 > boxes</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>this is a warnning message because = > the packets=20 > are in the two NICs, because both</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>NICs are in the same segment in the = > LAN, but it=20 > should (must) be a way to deactivate the ARP protocol</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>my problem its that the log grows = > to fast=20 > :(</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>>Greetings.</FONT></DIV> > <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><BR>Apr 24 10:01:50 www /kernel: arp:=20 > 207.248.139.18 is on fxp0 but got reply <BR>from 00:c0:4f:c9:d5:55 on = > dc0<BR>Apr=20 > 24 10:02:15 www /kernel: arp: 207.248.139.18 is on fxp0 but got reply = > <BR>from=20 > 00:c0:4f:c9:d5:55 on dc0<BR>Apr 24 10:02:19 www /kernel: arp: = > 207.248.139.17 is=20 > on fxp0 but got reply <BR>from 00:60:5c:f3:c5:44 on=20 > dc0</FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML> > > ------=_NextPart_000_018B_01C0CCAB.84FCAE40-- > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
