Now I fix XFree port (assume that Satoshi will commit * the fix in near future because it emergency needed) and not shure * that this fix will be passed to another building system (I mean * Rich here). If Rich will builds the system from your port * (and maybe some needed programs from contrib additionly), * this problem can't even occurse. * Rich, please, consider my proposal. As Jean-Marc said, the XFree86 distribution that comes with FreeBSD releases existed long before the x11/XFree "port". In addition to the missing contrib programs, the port lacks the mechanism to pack it in several different packages. Also, the XFree86 .tgz files are not "packages" in the normal senses, they are pure tarfiles. So it's probably more comfortable for Rich to use his own build mechanism, rather than use the one in ports. Maybe we can change this in the future (i.e., not 2.1), as the package installation is becoming an integral part of the installation. For now, I'm only concerned that we are all in the same page. Rich, if you are going to apply this to your XFree86 distribution, I will apply this to the XFree port too (unless Jean-Marc objects), so please let me know what you are going to do. Satoshi
