Hello, I'm attempting to install 4.7 Rel from the CDROM set I got from BSDMall on an HP OmniBook XE2. I have a Xircom Credit Card CE3B-10/100 16Bit pcmcia card inserted to slot 2. This is my first time installing FreeBSD to a laptop, so I'll try to provide as much info as I can. I get asked the question "PC-Card device detected, do you want to use the pc-card device as the installation media?" early during the installation, to which I respond by selecting "No" - as I'm installing from CDROM, and not performing a network installation. I go through what appears to be the regular server / pc installation procedures, but when I get to the network configuration part, my pcmcia nic isn't listed amongst the devices shown (which are ppp, slip & sio). Normally with a server / pc installation, my pci nic would be there, and I'd have the opportunity to configure it there and then. Is this not supposed to be the same for laptops? Have I missed a step earlier on? If so, what should I have selected / come across before this stage? If not, at what point does the pcmcia network configuration come into play? If there's any further info I get provide, please let me know. I'd appreciate any help, pointers or links to a how-to, if it comes to that. Thanks.
