The error message says:

====================<phase 7: make package>====================
===>   Building package for libedit-2.6.10_2
tar: libdata/pkgconfig/libedit.pc: Cannot stat: No such file or directory
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
pkg_create: make_dist: tar command failed with code 256
*** Error code 1

But I don't see why, because file
work/libedit-2.6.10/libdata/pkgconfig/libedit.pc exists.

Why do you think its the wrong way? Having libedit.pc is a way to make
gnome-config find the package, and its not (yet) done upstream.

Yuri
