Don't you think, we need to add something in the bsd.gnome.mk to check the version of pkgconfig? It is one of most common problem. Add something like if it's out of date and the bsd.gnome.mk will tell the users to upgrade their system. Perhaps, include a link to send users check the freebsd.org/gnome/'s faq? Sounds good?
