Try adding the following line to the /etc/hosts file:

192.168.1.10    myhostname.domain.com

where 192.168.1.10 is your hosts IP. Then take a look in /etc/rc.conf 
for the hostname= directive and verify that it is the same as the entry 
in /etc/hosts.
