I donīt know about linuxvirtualserver.org but quite some time ago I
found the following project: http://www.backhand.org/wackamole/ -
itīs supposed to be a load balancer/HA solution on IP level.

Iīve never tried - I even donīt know if itīs being maintained anymore but
the docs sound promissing.
