However, the newest version causes the ImageMagick Perl API to fail silently when accessed via mod_perl 2.x, and maybe under other circumstances. I have not made any changes to any other systems. Deinstalling the 6.x version and replacing it with the 5.x version without changing any other system configuration items yields a working setup.
