These are the default for recent versions of FreeBSD. But that's the hard way, why not just set up a secure tunnel, and use the ftp client of your choice. You can setup many http authoring programs to use the tunnel too. You can useTerra Term to setup tunnels and most of the other secure clients also. Niffty Telnet for the Mac will also use ssh tunnels, it even includes a client feature to move files to the ssh2 compliant server. Or you may want to look into http post. Sorry I have not explored this because the tunnels are just too easy. Rick Duvall Sent by: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG 03/06/2001 11:41 PM To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org cc: Subject: Secure FTP My supervisor would like to do ftp over ssl (port 22) to our 2 FreeBSD Webservers, and I am having a difficult time convincing him that he can't use his HTTP-SSL site certificate to do it. Also, I know that VanDyke SecureFX works great for this. However, he refuses to use it because he thinks that that is the only windows software that supports it, and he doesn't like that idea. He want's me to find a program that uses some "standard" that you don't have to buy. I told him to just buy the dang SecureFX license and be done with it, rather than wasting precious time and money having me research how to do it otherwise. He says he doesn't care about the money, he refuses to use SecureFX, because he doesn't want to be stuck with software that is monopolized. Any direction on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
