The best argument seems to be "The BSDs have a reputation of being minimalistic and user-unfriendly; Slackware is minimalistic and user-unfriendly; therefore Slackware is like the BSDs." Of course, I haven't tried slackware in a very long time; it may have changed a lot in the user-friendliness department.
