Actually, I'd recommend switching to lmdb rather than BDB. It's what I've been using for going on a year now, and it works great. You won't be able to upgrade in-place, obviously: you'll need to slapcat your data somewhere before upgrading and then slapadd it all back again into a fresh data directory.
