The tar starts the backup, but soon after it starts writing data to the tape, it aborts with the following message (however, it can write a few files before showing this message and I can restore these files later): tar: can't write to /dev/rsa0 : Input/output error The command I'm using to make the backup is: tar cvf /dev/rsa0 /home The kernel messages generated when it recognizes my SCSI adapter and the DAT device are: amd0: rev 0x10 int a irq 10 on pci 0.11.0 Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle sa0 at amd0 bus 0 target 2 lun 0 sa0: Removable Sequential Access SCSI-2 device sa0: 5.000MB/s transfers (5.000MHz, offset 8) Is there anything that I'm doing wrong ? Have anyone faced this problem before ? By the way, this box used to be a NT before running FreeBSD and the DAT worked fine with it. Thanks in advance, Rodrigo Ormonde P.S.
