Ron,
 I have been running FreeBSD on a FIC VA-503+ motherboard with an AMD
K6-2/300 w/ 64MB of RAM & 6.4GB IDE Drive (not UDMA) for several months
without any real problems.  Are you running the chip at 100MHz with PC-100
ram, and does it have proper cooling?
