1.  Reboot
2.  Type `-s' at the Boot: prompt
3.  Hit <return> at the shell question
4.  At the prompt, type

mount -u / <return>
mount -a <return>
passwd  

4b. The passwd command will change the root password.

5.  Type `exit' to resume booting.
