Hokay - I got impatient with crashes and shoehorned the older patch in.
It wasn't too difficult, in fact there were only 8 files where the diffs
didn't apply. Those I hand-merged. :-)

One "make world" and one new kernel and...

Right now, I am clobbering the test box. Obviously you want to know
if I find bugs. Any other info that is useful to you? So far it looks
good; bootup was a bit "noisy" - but I expect this from beta code.
