Yes, clearly it's a problem with either pkg-static or the the fchownat(2) c=
all
in pkg-static that evokes the error.

I've repeated this once more and it failed in the extraction of the same
package but this time while attempting chown on a different file in the
package.

I should add that this is happening on a virtual build machine running under
KVM (DigitalOcean) in case that suggests anything.

There are no suspicious messages in the kernel log.
