When I try to load if_vge, I get this message:

vge0: <VIA Networking Gigabit Ethernet> port 0xd000-0xd0ff mem 0xf8120000-0xf81200ff irq 17 at device 7.0 on pci0
vge0: MII read timed out
vge0: failed to start MII autopoll
vge0: MII without any phy!
device_attach: vge0 attach returned 6


This device worked in the past under FreeBSD (I last remember it working in April-May timeframe).
