Well, the phone guy says they are ok, but I don't know how thoroughly 
he/they tested them.  It definitely seems to start on the 4th line ttyc03 
so I feel that way also.  We live in a rural area, and that in itself 
lends itself to questionable line quality.  Very strange.  I appreciate 
your input.  This helps me think through all these problems.
