When I run it, however, and look at it with top, it shows the size as 1,208,320 bytes in total size, with 663,552 bytes resident. Where are the extra 1.2 million bytes coming from? What's the rock-bottom minimum size for a process in FreeBSD 5.3? For comparison, the same program running under Windows XP uses about 1,372,160 bytes. -- Anthony
