If you don't like the option, you're free not to use it. However denegrating other people's choices doesn't help anything, and contributes to the perception that new users who post to -questions will be harped on. Personally I use the color options in gnuls, and have for years. I like the display, and I like being able to see at a glance what everything is. I keep intending to try colorls, just haven't gotten around to it.
