Are there differences between the TI 1225 in a desktop PCI : card, and the TI 1225 chip in a laptop? I have a Dell Inspiron 7500 : with the TI 1225, and I believe it's been working since 4.0-RELEASE. Yes. Please do. I've just tried it on my desktop card (which actually appears to be a 1221, but that has the same problems). The difference between the laptop and desktop 1225 is that on the desktop the chip comes out of reset and is ready to go. Nothing has been done to it to put it into 82365SL compatibility mode. Laptops typically (but not always, or only with some BIOS settings) bring this chip up in compatibility mode so that more OSes can grok it on boot.
