--- Comment #7 from Stefan Schlosser <bsdcode@disroot.org> ---
(In reply to Kevin Reinholz from comment #6)

I bought my PS4 around November 2017 and this is the controller that came w=
ith
it:

Bus /dev/usb Device /dev/ugen0.5: ID 054c:09cc Sony Corp. DualShock 4
[CUH-ZCT2x]

According to some quick research mine is version 2 of the Dualshock4 and yo=
urs
is version 1.

I don't do anything unusual regarding to USB/Gamepad setup in
/boot/loader.conf, /etc/rc.conf or /etc/sysctl.conf, the only relevant sett=
ing
I have is usbhid_load=3D"YES" and hw.usb.usbhid.enable=3D1 in /boot/loader.=
conf. I
use RELEASE versions and the stock GENEREC kernel.

So I think the only relevant differences between you and me are
  1. RELEASE vs STABLE FreeBSD version
  2. V1 vs V2 Dualshock4 version

I'm guessing it's the different Dualshock4 versions. Would be interessting =
to
look into the implementation of ps4dshock(4) to see if it only handles V2 of
the Dualshock4.
