The most straightforward way is to do an 'xterm&' from a shell prompt in
another xterm. There are lots of other ways to do it.

You should be able to start it with /usr/X11R6/bin/startx without having
to do anything special.  If not, something is probably misconfigured.

Add the user to the wheel group in /etc/group.
