What am I doing wrong? I have an (aha0:4:0): "EXABYTE EXB-4200c 217" type 1 removable SCSI 2 and I able to dump and restore all my files systems (/ , /var, and /usr/ports) except /usr. I'm using FreeBSD 2.2.2 and I use the command "dump 0auf /dev/rst0 <file system>". I use the command: "restore if /dev/rst0" to restore my file systems. But whenever I try to restore my /usr file systems after and successful dump I get this message " Tape read error while restoring <directory file - name unkown> continue [yn]" Wether I answer yes or no this process hangs. I tried new tapes and I've booted as single user then dumping my file systems and get the same results. I can tar my whole file systems to tape without any problems, but I would preferr to use dump. Also mt status reads: $ rksh mt status Present Mode: Density = X3B5/88-185A Blocksize variable ---------available modes--------- Mode 0: Density = 0x00 Blocksize variable Mode 1: Density = X3.136-1986 Blocksize = 512 bytes Mode 2: Density = X3.39-1986 Blocksize variable Mode 3: Density = X3.54-1986 Blocksize variable When I run dmesg my tape drive reads: (aha0:4:0): "EXABYTE EXB-4200c 217" type 1 removable SCSI 2 st0(aha0:4:0): Sequential-Access density code 0x13, 512-byte blocks, write-enabled. Should these match? Please help! Thanks!
