So your links are not really useful sorry... Ahh! You caught me with my pants down! Why not try to add the pci ids to the nvidia drivers yourself? IIRC, the 6600 is the 6800 with less pipelines, so the same driver should work? Nvidia has been talking of the unified driver architecture for years. I thought you were looking for 3d support, are you? If so you won't like the nv driver. "nv is an Xorg driver for NVIDIA video cards. The driver supports 2D acceleration...."
