With Gentoo, the "stage" tarball is also binary, isn't it? For FreeBSD, you can download the miniinst CD image, which gives you about the same thing as the stage tarball, except that it isn't a tarball. Instead of "emerge system", one "makes the world" in FreeBSD. Kai
